National History

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a non-profit, public service organization composed of more than 190,000 predominately African American, college educated women. Sisterhood in our illustrious sorority expands the horizons of the world! We have over 900 chapters located in the United States, England, Panama Canal, Japan, Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, Haiti, Liberia, the Bahamas and the Republic of Korea. Delta Sigma Theta women continue to participate in social, cultural, and political affairs of America and abroad.

Twenty-two distinctive women of the Alpha Chapter excelled in promoting academic excellence while providing leadership and support to the community. Their first public act as a sorority was the Women's Suffrage March 1913.
